A Bagot Arms GS trip is always something to look forward to, but getting away together for some summer golf abroad is hard to beat. Sunshine, long days on the course, and plenty of cold beers waiting afterwards — that’s what it’s all about.

The golf over the week will be good fun, with a competitive edge to keep things interesting and just enough competition to make it matter. Throw in a few side bets along the way, and it should make for a cracking trip.

So you may be thinking, “how will I get from the airport or to the golf course?”. 

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with an excellent golf transfer service. There will be no more waiting around to be ferried to and from the course or the airport. 

We will be picked up from Malaga Airport on arrival and transferred directly to our accommodation, the Macdonald Dona Lola apartments in Calahonda. We will be transferred each day to and from the golf courses. No waiting around at the course for a convoy of taxis to ferry us back to the hotel. The luxury coach is fully licensed and driven by friendly multilingual drivers.

Accommodations The Macdonald Dona Lola resort is superb with a fantastic location, just a stone’s from the beach. The rooms are spacious with large balconies. The breakfast provides a wide variety of options, catering to all tastes, and is included in the price of our stay.

Cascais 2024

The Macdonald Doña Lola Resort is beachfront, lively enough on site, and well placed between Fuengirola and Marbella, so older golfers can stay local while the younger lads can head out at night.

La Plaza Beach Restaurant
Beachfront/poolside venue inside the resort. Great for breakfast, lunch, beers after golf, sunset drinks and evening meals. Often has live music / entertainment. Open roughly 10am–11pm seasonally.

La Plaza Lounge
More relaxed central bar/lounge area inside the resort. Good meeting point for groups, coffees, cocktails, pre-dinner drinks.

In the Doña Lola commercial area (2 mins walk)

These are effectively “on your doorstep”:

• Devine’s – friendly casual restaurant/bar, popular with expats and groups.
• Look Inn – classic British-style food, easy-going atmosphere.
• Mesón Doña Lola – stronger Spanish/international option. Good for proper dinners.
• Other nearby choices include Italian, Indian and pub-style spots on-site.

Santana Golf Club The 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches to around 6,200 metres across gently rolling, parkland-style terrain with wide, walkable fairways, strategically placed water features, and large greens that reward good shot-making.  The course is known for its scenic variety: mature eucalyptus, fruit and olive trees, and even ancient cork oaks give it a character all of its own, while views of the surrounding Sierra de Mijas hills and the Mediterranean coast provide a memorable backdrop throughout your round.  

Torrequebrada Golf Club, set in the hills above Benalmádena on the Costa del Sol, is one of the region’s most iconic and enduring golf courses. Designed by famed architect José “Pepe” Gancedo and opening in 1976.

Torrequebrada enjoys a rich history in Spanish golf and even hosted the Spanish Open in 1979, attracting legendary players and contributing to its reputation as a must-play destination on the Costa del Sol. 

La Cala’s Europa course is one of three championship 18-hole layouts at the renowned La Cala Golf Resort in Mijas, offering a superb blend of dramatic scenery and enjoyable golf for a wide range of abilities. Designed by acclaimed architect Cabell B. Robinson, the Europa course plays to a par 71 over approximately 6,014 metres, with generous fairways and larger greens that make it slightly more forgiving than its sister courses, America and Asia, without sacrificing interest or challenge.
